Avnet 's Director of Global Financial Operations John Clark reports to Chief Financial Officer Raymond Sadowski. In this capacity he is responsible for managing Avnet's financial operations in the Americas and driving the evolution of the systems, procedures and policies of financial operations globally. Financial operations include credit and collections, cash application, accounts payable, general ledger management and payroll.

Mr. Clark joined Avnet in November of 1983 as assistant controller responsible for general accounting at the company's Culver City, California, location. For the next several years Mr. Clark held various positions such as customer contracts manager and manager of budget and sales administration. He later became the operations manager for the Chatsworth, California, sales office and subsequently was promoted to operations manager for the Southwest area. He then became the district sales manager for Avnet's dedicated Hughes Aircraft sales and support team. After that, he was named director of the kitting operation.

Subsequently, Mr. Clark was asked to run the corporate administration organization for Avnet Electronics Marketing. He then moved to the new Avnet Computer Marketing Group as vice president and director of operations, to manage all non-sales functions. In 1992, Mr. Clark was appointed to head up the Total Quality Management efforts for Avnet Electronics Marketing.

Mr. Clark's functions were then migrated into an organization called Administrative Operations, where he took on the additional responsibilities of corporate account manager, travel, real estate, customer contracts, non-inventory purchasing and the telesales program. During this time he also chaired the Quality Council and the Information Services Division User Committee.

In 1995, Avnet was awarded a site visit on its quest to win the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award, as a direct result of Mr. Clark's involvement in spearheading the internal program that won this recognition.

In August 1996 Mr. Clark moved Administrative Operations to its new home in Arizona and welcomed finance and human resources under its umbrella.

He served in this role, under several different titles, until rejoining Avnet Computer Marketing (now Avnet Technology Solutions) in July 1997 as group financial officer, with responsibility for administration, credit and finance.

In July 2003, Mr. Clark was given responsibility for consolidating Avnet's North American credit and collection functions. In 2006 his role was expanded when the financial operations group was created and management of cash applications, accounts payable, the general ledger and payroll were added to his responsibilities. In 2007 Mr. Clark's responsibility was further expanded when he was given responsibility for global financial operations.
